Out of ICU

Great news, Patrick was moved out of ICU on Friday afternoon and is now in a ward with A.Jesca looking after him. Praise the Lord. We hope and pray that the next step is to bring him home though that may take a wee while yet so please continue in your prayers for him. Please also pray for us as we move towards a very busy time leading up to the end of school and Christmas.
Just a short note this time, we will write again soon.

An update on Baby Patrick

Greetings to all. Yesterday Marilyn & I visited Patrick in hospital. He is still in the Intensive Care Unit at Kampala International Hospital but is now off the respirator and breathing OK on his own though still a little fast as his lungs cope with an infection. He is being tube fed every 2 hours and is taking 50mls each time so he has made very good progress. We thank the Lord for his life and thank the doctors and nurses for their ongoing loving care. It is of comfort to us that they too are praying for him each time they attend to his needs. He did look so much better yesterday but he remains in ICU so please continue to pray for him. The costs of such care and treatment are mounting, it cost about 1,000,000 USH a day for him to be there(about $500NZ per day) and while that will be met, we are asking anyone who would like to contribute towards these costs to contact us and we can arrange it. He has been in ICU for almost 20 days now.
To other things, we have decided to produce a Christmas Cantata to present to our neighboring villages the week before Christmas and are in the throes of auditions and preparations which is keeping us busy. The P7 students have their PLE exams November 3rd &4th so there are extra lessons and tutorials happening there as well as the remedial support for many who need it.
We have had two new children join us, both girls. Judith is about 18 months old and had been left in  a doorway of someone who took her to the police. She is quite malnourished but has a most gorgeous smile and is a great cuddler. The second is Shakira also about the same age and she was left in the care of two boys aged about 14 & 11 while the father was away for much time working and they took her to the police because they couldn't give her the care she needed , so our numbers continue to grow (169 children now).
That's all for now, thank you for all your prayers, please continue.
God Bless

Another update on Patrick

Greetings, Marilyn & I were blessed today to be able to visit Patrick in the ICU for a few minutes. He is still in a critical condition but while we were there two Pediatricians were there monitoring his case and both were encouraged by his improvement, they feel he is recovering. The brain scan is normal showing no evidence of damage so we continue to thank the Lord for his life and maintain our prayers for him. we were also able to express our thanks to those looking after him in the ICU, we are confident he is getting the best care possible. Good news but please keep praying.
God Bless

An update on Patrick

Greetings to all. A quick update on baby Patrick, he is still in the ICU at Kampala International Hospital. tests have shown that he has malaria, pneumonia, meningitis and suspected TB. When he first arrived at the hospital his heart stopped momentarily but they were able to resuscitate him and he has been fully monitored since. They also found he had a leakage from his heart and today they were to do a brain scan. What more can this wee man cope with?,but he is still alive and we ask that you may continue to pray for him for a complete healing.
Until next time
God Bless

Pray for Patrick Please

An urgent request for anyone who reads this, please can you pray for baby Patrick. his temperature soared last night (42.1) and he struggled with his breathing. a blood sample showed he has malaria again/still so treatment was started for this. This morning he was vomitting blood so Pete & Pita took him by ambulance to International Hospital where further testing shows he has meningitis as well as pneumonia and malaria and they strongly suspect TB as well, so much in one so young it is a miracle he is still alive. He is in the ICU at the hospital in a critical condition. Please can you join with us and pray for this wee boy that he will win through this.
God Bless
