A day in the life of.....

Greetings, we thought we might share with you a typical (? ) Friday in our lives at NACMU.
6:30 am. awakened by the sound of boys dressing, setting the table for breakfast (which they always do loudly so that we will wake up) and hanging out the washing.
6:45 am shower and be ready for breakfast
7:10 am breakfast for the boys,
7:30 am boys off to school, we have the first part of our breakfast (cereal)
8 am  go to the primary school for assembly, our theme today is "The Master Designer" using Ephesians 2:10 and Jeremiah 29:11 (two special verses for us)
9:15 am return to home to finish breakfast (toast and coffee)
9:30 am Power goes off, just as well the toast is made. Can't do the washing though.
10am Power is back, water is off, still can't do the washing.
11am go to the Nursery school for their assembly, the lost sheep as a theme
11:45am Back home, water on power off
12 noon Power on, water on
12:30pm Power on, water off
1:30pm Power off, water off
2pm Power back, water off, left to do some work in one of the containers
4pm Power back, water back
4:15pm collect Rhode and bring her here for our special time. Boys arrive home from school
4:17pm a huge downpour (and I mean huuuuuge)
5:30pm still raining, take Rhode back to the home
6pm Supper, water off, can't do dishes and boys can't shower
7:10pm watch a DVD, still no water so no showers but did dishes with some of our emegency water we keep in jerrycans.
7:25pm Power off for 10 mins
7:35pm watching a DVD
7:55pm Power off for 10 mins
8:05pm watching a DVD
8:30pm Power off, boys go to bed in disgust, will finish the DVD tomorrow. Water still off
The power did come back about 9pm and stayed on. However it transpired that the water pump had died and needed replacement so we were without tap water for almost all of Saturday, the water came back about 7pm in time for the big boys to have showers ( the younger ones had bathed earlier).
THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL DAY IN OUR LIVES. It did however make us realise that we take many home comforts for granted and many of the village children live without power and a ready supply of water so it was a good lesson for us all. In Uganda we have learnt that you must do things when you can and to not put things off. We realise that we do live in comfort because God is good and He enables support and sponsorship to enable His work to be done. Thank you to all who support this organisation
Till next time
God Bless

An anniversary

Greetings to you all, we don't know where time goes and another two weeks has passed since we last wrote. I can say that we are restored to full health, in fact if I were any more healthy I'd be dangerous !! We have settled back into term time routines which has enabled us to spend more time at school. Marilyn has started teaching music to four classes which she is enjoying. The children here love their music and generally have good sense of rhythm (a six letter word without a vowel, can you find a longer word without a vowel?) and love singing.
We have a team from Springbank Church in Canada here at present and they have been having fun with the kids as well as doing some great work in constructing the Vocational Secondary School in preparation for next year. Over the next few months we have many teams coming for short-term visits. We always enjoy these as we get to know new people from all over the world. Our neighbourhood is very much a construction site at present as there has been a lot of progress on the third family unit next door to us. It has been good seeing the work done and it is good that we are not here during the day all the time because of the noise.
Yesterday was an anniversary day for us. It was two years ago that we came to NACMU and we really feel blessed to be here. We have had such an exciting, challenging, enjoyable, demanding, and rewarding two years that we thank God for bringing us here. We often look back on our lives before we came and realise that so many of the things we had done prepared us for the tasks we do here. Nothing has been wasted. As we say in Uganda...... GOD IS GOOD,  ALL THE TIME.
We are going for a break for three nights to Jinja from tomorrow as we have a 59th birthday to celebrate (quietly) and need a chance to rest and relax. Please pray for Aunty Anett who is coming to look after the boys for the first time. Please also pray for Piet who has been struggling with his health for too long now and also for Pita that she can get sufficient rest. We have two new newborn twin girls, Rose and Fleur, who require regular feeding throughout the night, Rose especially has been struggling somewhat but now seems to be coping better. There is still a lot of illness amongst the children and the Aunties, the weather probably has a lot to do with it. The rains have continued longer than usual and there can be great variations in the temperature during the day.
Well, that's about all for now, until next time,
God Bless
