Iganga Visit to NACMU

Hannah welcomed them with the guitarists
They played the National Anthems (even the Dutch)
Spectacular performance-a bit scary for some.
They marched  and played all around the compound,
with all the kids in pursuit
 Even the dogs joined in
The snare drums a real hit.
 And the big bass drum.
 Up past the family units.
While waiting for lunch our children had a chance to try the instruments.
Sandra got a good sound from the trumpet.
After football and netball, they danced for us.
Then we gave them shoe boxes
 which were a real hit
They were all so grateful. What a wonderful day!

Shopping Night

The boys love "shopping" for their clothes. Choosing what they like is really special.
Oops Richard-two legs in one hole buddy.
 The 4 youngest-Erias 2nd left is Aunty Christine's boy.
 Timothy in his new dress!
Of course Warwick had to get in on the act too.
Rhode with hair half done, blowing bubbles.
Me in my new braids. All the girls have new hairstyles.

WE HAVE MOVED !!!!

Sunday morning, wake up, look at the time, 8.46, oh my goodness......Sunday school starts at 9. Leap out of bed, wash, dress, go down to set up, just make it in time. Oops, forgot to put in my teeth..... its OK the children all tell me.
So began the first morning of us in our new home. WE HAVE MOVED.
On Saturday we moved out of the boys family unit, we have left them in the capable hands of Aunty Christine. It never ceases to amaze me how much 'treasure' we (I) can gather  in three and a half years, our second bedroom is chocker with 'stuff' and hopefully after Christmas we will be able to sort most of it out.
We are currently working on our Christmas pageant for Christmas Day, only 95 children involved this year, and we have managed to find things for them all to do. The first practice was this morning and so far so good as they say. We meet every morning from 9 - 10.30 and will have some other specific practice times with smaller groups so we will be full-on until Christmas.
We completed the second week of the holidays quite well, the highlight being a visit from a group of about 40 ex-street kids from Iganga (North of Jinja) who have been learning brass instruments. They were absolutely fantastic, they played for us and we played for them. The whole day was organised by the older children themselves and it was a great day. We are hoping to pay a return visit to them in January, it was quite inspiring to see what they can do.
Tonight we celebrated with a roast dinner, something we haven't had for 8 months (roast pork and roast veges), then we went up to the boys to read the nightly version of an Advent story we have been reading. It is called Jotham's Journey and has been a really good way to do Advent. After this we had their 'shopping night'. We put out the clothes we have gathered during the year for them to choose two outfits, one for Christmas Day and one for Boxing day. It was a hilarious evening as they tried on all sorts of combinations as you will see when I post some photos.
Tomorrow we are hosting Marilyn's Bible class group to watch the DVD of Joseph. It is three hours long so we suggested that we start at 4.30pm up to 6pm, then have supper, and watch the rest after that. They were VERY quick to suggest that they have supper here together, so tomorrow night we will have spaghetti for 13 children (who have good appetites), and we thought it would be quiet down here!!
Well I'd better get off to bed, hope to post some pictures soon, until then
God bless
