Greetings, I would like to share some new things that are happening here but before I do, an update on some of the not so new things. The last time I wrote (nearly a month ago now) we were preparing for some time out in Jinja. This we had but unfortunately Marilyn got a migraine on the Wednesday which meant that although I could swim and eat and sleep Marilyn could only sleep. However she came right on the Thursday when we came home. Napthali who arrived when Pita got back from The Netherlands was reunited with his mother the evening he was dropped here. His father had kidnapped him and dropped him here and his mother was very relieved to get him back. The plight of the 28 children who came was not over so quickly. The children were returned to their families last Thursday after being here for two weeks. There were many 'agencies' and groups involved in their situation and so it took until then for them all to be satisfied. They were well cared for here and some did not want to leave but it was not possible for them to stay here long-term.
Now onto the 'new' things. Firstly we have chickens, the chicken farm is up and running and we are getting a good supply of eggs from our layers and we look forward to more.
We have moved our Sunday afternoon church services to the big church as we had outgrown the space at Piet and Pita's side. We have had 4 Sunday services there and it is still a work in progress with sound, music, power-point, seating etc. but above all else we can still worship God which is our main function of church. Each challenge simply becomes another opportunity.
Another new thing which Marilyn & I celebrate and rejoice in is that we now have HOT WATER and can now have HOT SHOWERS. This may not seem such a big thing to many but to us we now look forward to getting up for a shower in the morning. Thank you Uncle Wim for putting it in.
Finally we have some new children. It takes the number of children to 151 and our latest two, brother and sister, will need all our prayers. On Tuesday P & P received a call from far away about two children needing help. They travelled to where the police had these children and were shocked by what they found. The boy, Robin, about two and a half to three yrs old was very small and somewhat undernourished. His sister Nalima, aged 17 months, was worse. She was only skin and bones, weighing only 4 kilograms and in obvious distress. The parents had been arrested for serious child neglect after the community nearby had stepped in. Piet and Pita brought these two home and a careful feeding programme was established for Nalima. Robin seems to be settling into the home although he knows no English and is bewildered about what is going on around him, but Nalima is continually nursed by Pita, she spends the whole day in her arms. She is fed a special formula every two hours and weight gain is measured in grams. She is still in danger so please pray for her and for Pita especially but also Piet and Aunty Sylvia who oversees Robin's wellbeing. It is shocking to see the condition of these children, how parents can neglect their children is beyond my comprehension. It is a miracle that Nalima is still alive, but we believe in miracles.
Until next time
God Bless
