It has been another busy few weeks and now that school is back we are gearing up for the tasks we are to do. I have put my timetabling skills to good use and have completed the Primary school timetable (version 4 or is it 5?), we now have all classes covered and are fully staffed. Marilyn has been testing the reading skills of the student in the senior classes and has quite a list of those who need 'reading recovery' and we are also hoping to work on improving the mathematics basic skills in all classes. The reading programme in the junior school is having a significant effect and the younger children can read better than the older ones.
We have also re-croc-ed the whole school. All students are provided with crocs and we were just able to manage this year, we are running out of some sizes so will need to think creatively about what to do in the future.
The brass band are continuing to practice most days and are now presenting items in church, the children have stuck to their tasks really well. Whilst on the subject of church, with the influx of extra boarders this year we have really outgrown the church at Papa's side so on Sunday we had our first service in the big church. It was a real team effort to get it ready but we made it and there was an air of excitement about it. We hope and pray that it will continue, we will be majorly challenged if it rains.
At the moment Pita is away in The Netherlands, she attended Arnout and Caroline's wedding on Saturday and it was with much delight that we learnt the video we had made of a 'mock wedding' for them was viewed at the reception. It took a week to prepare and film as a special gift to them and the children had a lot of fun putting it together so we were pleased that they too enjoyed it. Pita returns on Thursday and we look forward to seeing it for ourselves. We had sent the raw footage over and Christian put it together for us.
On the health front, I have been improving each day and can now, almost, do a full day (still had a Nana nap today though). I do feel much better and I return on Friday this week for another liver test which I hope may be the end of it. We are both feeling quite tired so hope to take a few days out at Jinja next week. Marilyn is especially tired so we hope to recharge the batteries somewhat.
That is about all the news for now, so until next time
God Bless
