An overdue update

Greetings to all who still access this site, it has been a long time since we wrote but have some time now so here goes....
Firstly we celebrated Papa's birthday in style, it rained an hour or so before we were due to start so the presentations were held indoors in the living room. The children had prepared many songs and dances along with some of the Aunties and this was followed up with the usual barbecue. It is always a much looked forward to occasion, next up will be Mama's birthday in October.
As it is the European summer we have had a large number of visitors here over the last few weeks. The first Livingstone team from Holland stayed in the new family unit next door because accommodation has been so tight so we experienced having neighbours on both sides. They were a great team of 18 girls and brought with them a great range of gifts and talents. One of their tasks was to help with the construction of the next family unit and things are progressing well with that. The second Livingstone team is here at present and are continuing the work.
We are in week two of the school holidays so we are kept busy in a different way from term time but things are going well. Knitting is still a popular activity with many scarves being produced. The latest craze is making slippers for indoors. The Secondary Vocational students are involved in many practical subjects during this holiday time : farming, construction, mechanical practice, carpentry and joinery, building practice..... so much is being done. The Primary students are helping with chores in different departments and have an activities progamme for afternoons and one evening each week.
The Olympics are over and we have enjoyed following them via Yahoo Xtra, NZ seem to have had a good Olympics and of course Uganda left their best to last. We did miss coverage on TV, especially the synchronised swimming (many will know how much I enjoy that) but we did get some glimpses when we went for a break for a few days in Entebbe.
We have had two more children arrive who were dedicated last Sunday, Davey who is about 3 months whose father was not able to care for him so Davey came via the probation service for care. He is a real sweety with a ready smile. The second is Maurice who at 6 months old weighs only 2.7 kgs, seriously underfed and removed from his parents by the police. Both may only be here for a time but at least here they get proper care. Please pray for these two boys and for Mama as she cares for them.
Please pray also for our work permits. Our permits have expired and we have applied for renewal. The initial response was to deny it, but things are now moving towards them being accepted. Last week we had to go to Interpol to be fingerprinted for a criminal record check and tomorrow we have to go back to be photographed, it has been a mission of its own but we believe God will prepare the way if we are to stay here. Also Marilyn has an appointment at the dentist tomorrow evening and again on Thursday morning, so please pray that all will go well.
That's about all for now, till next time
God Bless
