Wow, it has been soooooo long since I have written and such a lot has happened since last time. Firstly we have now been in NZ for12 days and are beginning to become acclimatised to the weather. We spent the first four nights in Auckland staying with our eldest, Chris, and his partner Beck. Jen (our daughter) was also there so it was good to catch up with them there. Jen then came down with us to Waihi beach where we were able to relax and catch up on further sleep. On Friday we came over to Putaruru in the south Waikato to catch up with friends. We had lived in Putaruru for four years (about 25 yrs ago) and it was great to make contact with many people who are still here. Tomorrow (well today actually because I am writing this at 2am on Monday) we travel by bus down to Havelock North for the next part of our journey.
However, I want to share about today Sunday 26th Feb.
We started with a glorious day, bright sunshine, a beautiful south Waikato day. We were invited to talk at church in the morning to share about the work we are doing in Uganda. The parish has a luncheon once a month so we went on to that and continued to catch up with friends, all-in-all a good day.
But wait, there's more.........
About 5pm I received an e-mail from one of my half-sisters Laurel!!! She wondered if I was the Warwick Dingle whom her mother gave birth to, and indeed I am. She and my other sister, Merrin, had only learnt of my existence the day before and wanted to make contact. I rang her to confirm it.
I couldn't believe it, after all this time to hear from her while we are in NZ and not Uganda is incredible. They both live in Palmerston North so next Saturday we are planning to go and meet them. I had tried to establish contact with my mother about 15 years ago without success, she didn't want to make contact. It transpires that she passed away 20 months ago and her husband (who is not my father) knew about me and felt it time to tell his daughters. My mind is still reeling with a veritable smorgasbord of thoughts - God has a wonderful sense of timing. I can hardly wait until next weekend, but for now I'd better get some sleep.
Until next time, God Bless
