Greetings, you will by now realise that we have been trying, with only some success, to post photos on the blog. The last lot were there for a day but have gone again so I'm not sure what I can do. Any suggestions anyone?
Another week has gone by and it has not been a good one really, we have both been somewhat suffering from health issues. I have been lacking energy and getting very tired, and Marilyn has experienced some rather painful arthritis-like pains in her upper legs so we both feel like a couple of old 'crocks'. However we are starting to improve thankfully. We have just taken things quietly apart from a very necessary shopping trip to Kampala on Thursday. Wednesday was a public holiday (Hero's Day) so the boys were home for that.
WE HAVE BEEN HERE A WHOLE YEAR!!!!! On Friday we celebrated our first anniversary of arriving in Uganda. It has been a year of challenge and change, a year like no other for us. We still believe this is where God wants us to be, there is so much to be done for the lives of these children and we get much joy.
Our roles may be changing sometime soon though. The girls house is finished and they are ready to move in. Aunty Marjorine, the Aunty who will run the family unit we think, has been working up at the home for the last two weeks and came down here to be with us for a week or two to see how we do things here. Meanwhile another Aunty (Justine) started yesterday with a view to her possibly taking over the boys home from us in due course. She is up at the home familiarising herself with things there before she exchanges places with Marjorine down here. The whole time frame for this is still a little uncertain as there are a couple of large teams coming during July and space for accommodation is tight.
And where do we go? We will oversee the running of the family units, ultimately from our own home, but perhaps initially from another of the homes here, but we don't expect too much to change before August.
An update on the car situation. I have been using the land cruiser which is very comfortable to drive though Marilyn hasn't tried it yet. We may look at buying that or may go for a RAV4, we are still investigating.
Please do pray for our health, and for those children who are sick, especially young Joshua who is suffering from a blood disorder and has been struggling a lot lately. Our dear wee Raghma (come on, you knew I couldn't write a blog without mentioning her name) has another cough so please pray for her too.
Sorry there are no pics.
Till next time, God Bless
